This is How We Fiesta!

Happy Monday! Well, to be honest I was slightly dreading this past weekend in more ways then one just because I was so busy! But after it was all said and done, I had a good time! Minus the whole allergy thing that I am currently struggling with. #thanksTexas!

Yesterday I ran the Fiesta Mission 10k with 2 good friends, Danielle and Leslie! We had a great time and I am looking forward to doing more races! The 10k started at 8 am and it was only about 15 minutes away from where I lived so I didn't have to be up as early as I did for the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon! I know all 3 of us woke up yesterday morning thinking, "Why did we sign up for this, again?" Haha! But we fought the urge to stay in bed and we got those 6.2 miles in!!

It was a beautiful course! I will definitely be taking the kids back there with bikes/scooters/roller blades for some fun!

The course was mostly flat and even during the summer when it's 90+ degrees, I think it would still be nice to walk on because it will be shaded!

We didn't run the entire 6.2 miles for a couple reasons.. a) I don't think any of us actually trained for it. We looked at it like more of a "fun" run.. we weren't trying to kill ourselves. b) we had a medical excuse not to run the whole time! (Thank you to Danielle's PT, haha) c) I had/have allergies SO bad right now!

We did set a goal to be done in 90 minutes and we beat that by 3! Yay! Haha..

There was one part of the course that was SUPER muddy.. of course, we had to stop and take a picture!

Overall, we really did have a good time! I learned that I really do enjoy the atmosphere of races! Everybody, from all walks of life come together to do a race and its so encouraging to see! Everybody is cheering each other on.. there were professional runners, beginners... kids, grandparents.. you name it! And they all made it to the finish line!

There were a group of ladies who were stopping to take a picture of everybody's (muddy) running shoes!

People were out there to just have fun, get in some exercise, eat food, drink beer and listen to music!

Thanks again to Danielle and Leslie for a fun time! When's the next one!?
